Good taste. Decent texture. Will eat again

Tried another backpacker's pantry tonight. Thai pillow! It was really good. We added about 1/4 pack of spices and the whole pack of lime. It was REALLY spicy for me and not spicy for my spicy loving husband. Probably moderate hotness for the average American. The whole lime packet was just too much lime. The texture wasn't like freshly made pad thai, a bit soft but it didn't affect the taste. It wasn't salty at all which was a nice surprise for a survival style meal. I would put my second curry

Mexican rice with noodles.

I probably haven't eaten freeze-dried food for hiking for a long time and had no hopes. It doesn't taste like Thai pad at all, and if you look at the ingredients, you can see why. It contains no tamarind, fish sauce, eggs, fresh bean sprouts or carrots to add variety to the texture. Peanuts are of very poor quality and taste like butter. TVP is close to replicating an egg, but honestly it would be better with freeze-dried dofu strips. So how does it taste? Mexican rice comes closest to me andโ€ฆ

This Pad Thai in a bag is overpriced and tastes bad.

This pad thai is the worst imitation pet high I've ever tried. I can say that with confidence because I had the best pet, the best pet I've ever met at the Meritage Restaurant in Charleston, South Carolina. Meritage's Pad Thai had a different and exciting taste with every bite. I knew this tourist's pad thai couldn't be as good as Meritage's pad thai, but I didn't think it could be as bad as it was. Imagine a bundle of hot spices from Mexico and Asia with noodles dipped in gooey peanut butterโ€ฆ

You can try this delicious and easy hiking dish BEFORE you set off. While my wife found this dish tasty and easy on the stomach, it gave both me and my daughter a fairly severe gastrointestinal upset - while an MRE would keep you up for days - it was the other way around. It was one thing to be on the trail regularly, but it wasn't cool. And to answer the next question, the food was made from the leftover city water we had on hand before switching to purified water, so no, we didn't ingest aโ€ฆ
