Bought these little bulbs to put in birthday balloons. We placed one in each balloon, inflated them, and then placed them throughout the yard by pushing one side of a 6-inch U-shaped garden stake through the balloon's stem and into the lawn. The balloons only lasted two days, but a week later the little bulbs are still glowing brightly. Out of the 100, two bulbs didn't work, but the remaining 98 are still lit.

I personally think that if you use them in a dark place (no light or outdoors at night) 1 per balloon is enough, but if you plan to turn on the light (we made it semi-dark) then you can use 2 per pear.
