I was about to bake a 9 inch three layer cake for my grandson's birthday and I had to cover it to protect it. Cake did the job. The glass appears to be of good quality. It's quite heavy and feels solid, I accidentally hit it against a granite slab and it didn't hurt.

Beautiful glass dome that matches my white and turquoise Fiestaware Baking/Pizza Tray. difficult. It's also tall enough for a layered cake. Use it almost weekly. I have washed by hand and in the dishwasher. The dishwasher is easier, so I put it on the bottom shelf most weeks with no problems. If the family broke this glass cake topper I would order it again.

I was looking for a cake topper with straight vertical sides rather than a sloping top to accommodate a 2-3 tier cake. without smearing the glaze. Haven't used it on a cake yet, but I've accurately measured the height of a typical 3-layer cake and fist when the decorations aren't very tall. It also looks great on the counter and will discourage a 7 year old from reaching for cinnamon rolls without adult supervision :) The jar is strong but not too heavy. Clear lines, classic. I love it.
