They worked fine for a small piece, but when my son made a square that filled in, the plastic sheet melted, shriveled and twisted! This goes well beyond the slight curvature mentioned, as happened when we were still melting the beads. We're lucky to have them! There is no way to correct this. The plastic is not as heavy as the pad that comes with Perler bead sets. I'm sending it back.
