☕ BLACK+DECKER CM1331BS Coffee Maker, 12-Cup Review

Great coffee maker - has everything I want EXCEPT the carafe. B&D used to have the best outlet I've ever owned (and I've had many), but for some reason they decided to change the outlet on this unit. I pour my coffee into a thermos almost every day and have yet to pour it into the thermos without it dripping down the spout no matter how slowly I pour.

Most cheap coffee maker reviews seem to be filled with complaints. The thing does what it does and does it well. The two most important things for me in a coffee machine = good taste and a coffee pot that doesn't drip. Of course, a V60 or Chemex Pour-Over tastes a little better and develops more aroma even with the "high" setting. But overall it's a good cup, no plastic smell (which is too common) and I don't have to clean up the mess every time I fill the car or pour a cup!

I think I've finally found a coffee maker I can live with. It's nice to have a 12 cup machine that actually makes 12 cups of coffee per pot. I also like the countdown timer that tells you how long before it auto shuts off after two hours so you can grab a cup before the kettle cools down (or start it again if you like hot coffee, that sits on the burner for hours.) And brews the pan very quickly. I can't think of anything I don't like about him and I drink more coffee than a human should.

Fantastic coffee maker. Love the burn-off options, the stronger brew option, and the ease of use of the electronic control panel. My only complaint would be the overall height of the device when the top cover is open. It's so tall it doesn't fit under the cupboard, which means I have to pull the unit out from under the cupboard to fill it with water and coffee. To be honest, it's not that impractical. The good news first: It makes a great cup of coffee (best coffee to water ratio is 1 tablespoon per 6 ounces of water). It brews quickly, makes no noise, the coffee is hot, like any drip machine, it's very easy to clean. The buttons are easy to program. So why only 3 stars? Well, the little contraption in the center of the decanter lid that lets you pour a cup before brewing broke the first day after the wash.
