Easily fits 55 gallon metal. The hanger cleans the top and retaining ring. BUT install a nylon washer to allow the hanger to fold and rotate. It also helps to pack it up by moving it around as this keeps the length to a minimum. You cannot use the standard top and retaining ring when the non-hinged hanger is engaged.
