Good Cables: Computer Accessories and Peripherals

If you extend the SATA cable you will lose some performance, but probably not more than a few percent. After all, you probably won't be able to tell which drive is which by doing a blind test.

Pros
  • Best in Niche
Cons
  • Lots of Stuff

Used these as a direct connection for an external Blu-ray drive

I ran some standard SATA cables from the back of my network server and then connected one of them directly to the BD. They work well and combine things a bit. However, if you're running data from a SATA splitter, chances are you can only use it as an extension.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Fits

Loose connectors are good for SATA cables

I'm not sure how this item got a 5 star rating but these connections are so lost with SATA cables I had to tie them together to ensure that this does not come separately. I also wish they would offer them in half length. If the fitment issue was resolved I would think it's worth the 5 star rating.

  • Some cons

It worked for my purposes

I bought a new case and put my old SSD on the panel opposite my motherboard. This made it seemingly impossible to connect cables to it. This extension allowed me to connect the SSD to the power supply and motherboard. I would have preferred something shorter but maybe the 20 inch length is what others need.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Makes me nervous

Internal optical drive is now external

My new computer case didn't have an internal optical drive bay. I was looking for an external USB 3.0 enclosure solution that wasn't easy to come by. Then I realized that I could just pull this extension out of the back of the case and I'd still have a direct SATA connection. For me, this was the perfect budget solution.

Pros
  • fingers crossed
Cons
  • long time

to remove them from your computer. You can also insert drives into an open laptop bay without turning the laptop over. Most of the expansions I've found are too bulky to fit into laptop bays and "toaster" style external drive adapters. With these I was able to easily use a precision knife to remove the outer rubber grommet on the narrow side of the connector and replace the removed grommet with some PSV to cover the then exposed side of the power connector. They work great, are easy to changeโ€ฆ

Great product, the best of the SATA cables

I needed these cables urgently and Revain was willing to help me with a 2 day delivery. I've had to increase the cable length on some of my hard drives due to the type of enclosure I'm using. They appear to be of good quality and don't feel cheap and flimsy like some other brands' versions. No problem recognizing my hard drives on my Dell workstation and Dell server.

Pros
  • Finally bought it
Cons
