Replacing the blind belt on a van

These straps were badly needed for my window awning in my 97 camper van as the original strap rotted and I took it off. I went to You Tube to see how to insert the strap into the 'track' of the awning tube. I just drilled a hole in the "rail" to tighten the strap rather than disassembling and reassembling the awning tube. Works perfectly!

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Strap

DO NOT BUY outside

Do not buy plastic BELT OPENERS, the plastic pad is NOT the same as the picture, the strap does not go around the plastic and the strap goes through the hole in the tent guide through a plastic loop that sometimes takes a month long breaks, and (2) breaks when the window awnings have been extended they simply snap off causing the awning to roll down quickly and hard like a broken curtain. I will look for another brand from another seller

Pros
  • Practical thing
Cons
  • No machine

Complete replacement straps

My old straps slipped right out of the hole in the end cap. New belts fit immediately. Replaced all 3 in 5 minutes. They were the correct length of about 28 inches with 3 additional loops for adjustment. Brand new and this was the first time they have been used. Complete junk! I think the strap is ok for the price and you can keep it and make your own connection at the end of the awning.

Pros
  • Confidence
Cons
  • Available in white only

POOR CONSTRUCTION: This product WILL DAMAGE the fabric of the awning when you roll it up! The anchor is HARD (yes, hard) molded plastic, and the attachment point (see arrows in image) protrudes from the window awning. hose and squeezes the awning material. I guarantee that this poorly designed tensioning strap WILL DAMAGE YOUR TENZA over time and cost you money. Also, it should be an inch longer. Keep shopping, find another manufacturer until this issue is resolved.

Pros
  • Sturdy Construction
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Very easy to install if you modify the reel.

This worked great to replace a broken strap on my RV window awning. After seeing what it takes to remove the end cap on the reel, I took the reviewer's advice and drilled an extra entry point into the groove. After that, it is quite easy to remove the damaged tape and install a new one. I've found that using a rotary tool and a small diamond core bit is much easier than using a drill to make the cut. Be sure to wear safety goggles when cutting the groove.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Quality
