Very convenient. great color Purple and sap green are fairly transparent. Pots can be removed. PS After this review I did a preliminary lightfastness test by taking a sample of the paint and dividing the samples in half, placing one set on the window and the other in the drawer. All colors except fuchsia are fairly fade resistant. It's very faded. However, it's a beautiful color. Keep that in mind when using this kit.</p>

I'm a big fan of Caran D'ache products. The quality is amazing. Most of their colors have an excellent lightfastness rating (this is how long it takes for a color to fade over time when exposed to indoor lighting). Your color saturation is just fantastic. I made a color swatch for every color except white because honestly you can't really see it very well on white. White comes in a tube. After looking for a "good" gouache kit, I decided to buy this set after reading the reviews. Basically I liked the idea with the pans, they're cleaner and so handy as they dry quickly, when you're done you can just close the lid and go. But I was concerned about the consistency, opacity, and its ability to mask. When I first saw this gouache set I was surprised at the modest price given that it is Caran D'Ache. Most Caran D'Ache art supplies are very expensive, with the exception of children's art supplies. And the manufacturer's retail price for this set is only fifty cents more than the Fancolor Tempera Children's Set, which includes the same tin, paints and brushes. So to be honest I'm not sure if these two kits differ at all in formula or if these two kits are the same paints intended for both kids
