💽 Coolmax CD-510-U2 Gemini 3.5-Inch/5.25-Inch External HDD Enclosure Review

I've had it for about a month now. Setup was easy. I haven't worked too much but the transfer speed is ok and it doesn't even get hot and I leave it on for a few days.

This USB Hard Drive Enclosure works great, I've had a pair of these for over 3 years and have had no problems. Installing the hard drive was easy and worked as expected.

The mounting system for the hard disk unit could be better. Doesn't feel solid. The block works very well. No configuration is required on XP.

This is a very nice case, very easy to open and attach to the DVD recorder. The biggest problem with this is the fan noise. It's very loud, insanely loud. You could use a universal power cord to make it easier to replace if lost. But I won't. so it works when i need it.

I use it with a DVD burner and Firewire. In fact, this is a good ride. Easy to assemble and quite durable. Works well. Cons: VERY noisy fan, the drive tray is made from cheap stamped sheet metal and uses a wall power supply instead of an internal power supply despite its size. (I hate warts on the walls.) The instructions are also marginal.

This case is quite cheap for a 5.25 inch drive and will hold my DVDRW drive in place. I also put a 3.5" HD in one. It doesn't have any mounting screws, which is a little annoying (the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars). The fans can be a bit noisy, but not critical. An auto shut off feature would also be very helpful.Despite my picky nature I'd say it's worth every penny.They look good, are flexible and give me a hassle free experience.
