These shoes are the best you can find for a lake or river hike. They can withstand walking on rough rocks and even walk over areas where there is sand in the water. Definitely worth the extra money. Take the time to put the straps on your feet, then shower with your shoes on before wearing them all day. Warm water helps the straps relax around the shape of the foot.

I was looking for turquoise sandals for office work, but when they arrived I found these are athletic sandals, great for wading through the surf or through the mud. but not so nice to wear in the office. The photo is a little deceptive. They don't look as slim or delicate. They look like big rubber paddles with garden furniture. And the ankle strap is too long and drags on the floor. So they returned. I'm sure these are great sport sandals but they are not what I need.
