Elastic! I always worry that my kids will outgrow the clothes too quickly when I buy them, but I'm not worried about that! They fit my daughter perfectly and look like they will fit her for the rest of the school year. These pants are good quality and I love that they have back pockets like jeans. No buttons to fiddle with. They are actually elastic pants.

My daughter goes to a private school and she needs to wear a uniform to make it fit her perfectly and I love that Children's Place different sizes for different height kids, my youngest is genetically predisposed to be heavier so it's nice that I can find things that fit her without making her feel nauseous. She hates wearing jeans or other inelastic materials; She prefers jeggings and leggings so they are perfect and really fit her!

I bought these for a 3 year old and a 6 year old. Both of my girls are above average so I always go bigger and I did that for them too. The legs fit both of them perfectly, but the waist was a bit big. I ended up rolling my waist up once for both kids (similar to how you sometimes roll up your pants). They also have belt loops, so that's an option too if you run into this problem. Both of my girls ended up loving their new "jeans" and wanting to wear them non-stop all week.
