This thread is fantastic for my scrapbooking and stamping projects. Through trial and error, I found that it works perfectly with both hand and machine sewing. It has just the right amount of stretch and durability to make my projects look professional. This thread itself is not very elastic. Its ability to "stretch" is due to the fact that its very smooth and satin finish outer layer slides easily through stretchy fabrics (knitwear, elastics). Whether you use it for hand or machine sewing, just make sure the stitch isn't too tight and that the fabric is allowed to move in every single stitch and you won't have a problem with that.
