I have several folding stools and this one is the lightest and seems the most fragile. That doesn't mean he's weak, but he doesn't seem to be as strong as the others. compromise - weight. While others weigh 2.4 pounds, this one weighs just 1.8 pounds and the difference is noticeable. If I went hiking with a stool, I would choose it because of the lower weight. I have a few of these from different manufacturers but not much of a difference to tell. They don't seem to have a problem with my 230lb weight, although they feel pretty light for the job. Real physics are at work here, as weight is distributed across many small areas to provide combined capacity. I got it for garage work. My first has a battery/charger that I use for photo safaris. I have other portable stools but I prefer this one. Nothing is as light, portable, small and quick to assemble.
