Description of ⚡️ Black Stranded Copper Security Conductor

Stranded Copper, 22 Gauge 4 Conductor. Full Copper Verified Compliant with EIA / TIA Standards by UL and ETL. Internal Colors are Red, Black, White, and Green. Length: 500ft. Color: Black. Because the wire pulls through the middle of the Coil Pack, installers can stack the Coil Packs and pull multiple wires in parallel for faster installation.

It is what it is. - Electrical

I ordered this because I wanted 22 AWG stranded 4-wire copper wire for various control projects (e.g. RS-232 etc.). I made sure it was 22 AWG (7 strands of 30 AWG measured at 0.000944 each strand diameter). It also looks like solid copper (flame and cut test). The insulation may appear thinner than standard 22 AWG insulation because it is for communication, not power transmission or chassis/interconnect wiring. Probably max 60V or less (didn't look for the UL file).

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions

It seems to be between 22 and 24 ga

The cable is fine. I'm not sure about the 22 gauge - it seems a bit smaller because I had some trouble stripping it with my regular wire stripper. I don't usually have these problems with the same tool and different wires. In fact, I've tried two - one has a single hole for stripping 22/24 stranded wire and the other has separate 22 and 24 AWG wires - both had issues with those wires. Maybe the actual wire gauge is correct, just less insulation than it should be.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • I don't remember

Good wire, but be careful. It's not solid wire.

I got this because it was the right AWG for what I needed and it has 4 wires throughout the tube. It comes boxed and the wires are 22 AWG. but they're not a solid piece of wire, they're braided, just like speaker wire or similar wire. It is very difficult to connect the ends of the wires to the breadboard for the Arduino to use them this way. But guess why I'm glad I have soldering supplies on hand. I was able to get some work done, the solder doesn't want to stick to the wire right out of the…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • There are new competitors
