- This cool turquoise blue is perfect for creating a shape or defining a space. It is a medium color, transparent pigment with excellent granulating properties. Manganese Blue, a good substitute for Cerulean Blue, has the added benefit of mixing well with non-staining, translucent colors, creating a mottled texture in primary colors. Note: True Manganese Blue has been discontinued due to environmental concerns and toxic by-products and has been replaced in the DANIEL SMITH line with a formulation very similar to this. The result is a safe, high-quality, lightfast pigment in our favorite shade, Marganese Blue Hue.
