The drill has forward and reverse gears, so it can tighten and loosen screws. However, when it is used, there are mixed results. This amazing toy is an instant hit. My only complaint is that the directions suck and are small. It's definitely hard to see what goes where. Nothing is well labeled, but we finally figured it out. My 3 year old was delighted to order this toy and we absolutely love it! I love that the drill actually works by screwing and unscrewing screws to take the toy apart and put it back together. My son can't disassemble and assemble these toys himself yet, but using a drill he was able to pull the trigger and actually loosen the screws himself after I fitted them for him. realized it was an RC car so this feature was a big plus.
