This case replaces the Griffin Survivor case I installed in January 2014 on the day I bought my first iPad, the Mini 2 with Retina display. i bought it because the ipad is so slippery. I have an iPad mini 1 and it fits perfectly and has a good grip. Not sure about the protection (didn't drop it LOL) but generally satisfied.

Might be a little heavy and bulky for adult travelers but a great bag for children and young adults. Almost indestructible! I found it will stand on its side - both horizontally and vertically. Some reviews suggest this isn't the case, but I haven't had any issues with it.
