Good product! Safety is the key!

When working on tall structures they are indispensable. We use this model for helmets, tools, puppies and children. They're a bit heavy for helmet mounts, but not as restrictive as devices designed specifically for hard hats. The boys use them and that's all that matters. I think I got about 30 on my first order and will be getting more. An insurance claim that a helmet fell off someone's head and fell 47 floors down the street would pay for thousands of them. Better to be safe than sorry…

Pros
  • Single action aluminum carabiner
Cons
  • unreliable

I prefer the extended length.

I bought a couple of these when I was working at the top of an elevator shaft. Among other things, I worked with a saber saw ($150), a rotary hammer ($200), an impact wrench ($100), all equipped with a $100 battery. If I drop one of them, I'll lose $200 at best. Worst case scenario, I'll drop a rock drill on someone's head from 100 feet. This $8 strap was worth the peace of mind. For most people, a longer length is probably best, especially if you plan on tying it at the waist.

Pros
  • Reflective element for better visibility
Cons
  • A few bits and pieces

Inaccurate product photo

Product information and photos do not accurately describe the product. The photo shows a large carabiner with a clasp that is not. The product details describe the carabiner as "captive eye predicts the direction of loading and prevents the carabiner lanyard from disengaging”, which is actually not the case. The non-removable eyelet is missing and has been replaced with a flat spring clip and the carabiner has no lock (see attached photo). The main reason I chose this product over others was…

Pros
  • Tubular nylon braided energy absorbing cable
Cons
  • Large and bulky
