Awesome DAC

Well made, with great clear sound and absolutely silent sound. True to the reviews and I would have no hesitation in recommending this DAC to anyone, plus it's reasonably priced. First class product support, delivered quickly and packaged very well. If I had one suggestion, like some of the other reviewers, it would be to enlarge/enhance the display and make it more readable from a distance. If you have an X16 close by this isn't a problem, but if your stack is far away it's hard to see what's…

Pros
  • ► Bluetooth 5.0 DAC: GUSTARD DAC-X16 is equipped with Bluetooth CSR8675 chip, supports Bluetooth 5.0, supports multiple audio formats LDAC, AAC, SBC, APTX.
Cons
  • Long delivery time

What's up, CAP?

This DAC is exactly what you need. Pretty impressive specs. Having had bad luck with the SMSL M400 and Topping X30 in the past, I settled on the more expensive Gustard X16 after reading a rave review from Audio Science. This DAC features two ESS ES9068AS chips with onboard hardware MQA bitstream decoding. I think internet spies were following my purchase because a day later I received an offer for a few months of Tidal HiFi with MQA implementation. I tried a few songs from Tidal and my Gustard…

Pros
  • ► MQA USB DAC: GUSTARD DAC-X16 supports the technology. Use the latest ESS SABER ES9068AS dual channel fever audio chip DA ES9068AS, this chip built-in hardware renderer with rendering function, DA audio chip, can directly input the SPDIF and I2S first stage of the decoded digital audio signal process and the external signal reduce control signal interference when the DAC is working to achieve perfect reproduction.
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

My First External DAC

I have a Novatron (Cocktail Audio) X35 which is a combination ripper, streamer, NAS, DAC and amplifier. A long time ago I gave up using an amplifier to just use a streamer and DAC. The internal DAC is good, but it's an early-gen ESS Saber Pro single chip and I've always wondered if an external DAC would sound better. I finally pulled the X-16 trigger and the results exceeded my expectations. I output a number from the X35 via USB and it's not like the X-16 has multiple hours, I find its ability

Pros
  • ► High-Resolution Decoder: The GUSTARD DAC-X16 USB processing module uses a dedicated USB audio XMOS-XU216 chip and supports up to 384K, DSD512, PCM768K.
Cons
  • Legacy model
