When I look at the straps I check for flex and almost all straps fail unless they are tactical or have a steel shaft which is not very practical for metal detectors. More like saddle leather than glove leather, but if you're looking for stiffness and resistance to sagging, this is the belt for you. The buckle could have been better attached to the belt, especially to allow the buckle to be easily removed for thorough cleaning and polishing. Especially important for the owner of the trophy buckle!

I use it like a regular belt. It's better made than some belts I've bought for the same price. With the thickness of the leather and the interchangeable hardware, I don't think this will wear out over the course of a normal person's life.
