I have used this with a vertical lifebuoy and safety straps which I bought separately. Was able to walk comfortably across my two story roof. The rope handle is sleek and easy to use as you move across the roof. Be sure to tape the end of the vertical rescue rope over it, as this rope grab will not open much more than 5/8 inch.

I bought this to replace the auto grab that came with my roof kit as I didn't want the auto grab to decide when my rope must be adjusted. Length. The hand grip still allows the rope to slip through the handle when moving up, but locks in nicely when downward pressure is applied. Although I would have preferred it to be 100% manual, the device worked very well and didn't let me down. This gave me a little confidence to move around the edges of my two story roof.
