I would like to pass this tip on. Go ahead and buy replacement parts for your filter. At least you'll have it handy if there's a leak. This will relieve you of stress.

fitting on 120 gallon tank. But I won't be buying another Fluval canister filter because everything that needs replacing, from the foam to the cap puff, is incredibly expensive. I'll look for another canister brand next time I have a problem.

It's a shame these Fluval parts fail randomly and it's difficult and expensive to get replacements (even if you order direct from Fluval). I hate that it costs 1/3 the price of the original unit to replace leaking valves. However, this spare part is present and works perfectly.

That has stopped the annoying leakage. No more riots. Should have been exchanged sooner. I think the weight of the drain hose we always attached to the valve might have been the reason the part only lasted a couple of years. Now we remove the hose after each cleaning of the tank and there were no more problems with dripping water. More detailed instructions on how to remove the old valve would have been helpful, but I finally figured it out.
