record button works. There is no zoom. The device is beautifully built and I'm disappointed that it doesn't perform as well as I would like. I may have overlooked the list of cameras it works with. Otherwise it looks like a good buy for the money.

I bought this unit last year and it works great. I ordered a second one this year to go with a second camera (same model as the first). The new controller didn't work so I went back to get a replacement and the replacement didn't work. Very upset.

This was tested on Panasonic X1, Canon Vixia S20 and Canon Vixia G20. Works great for everyone! The record button makes a loud click, so be careful. The structure is so-so. The single screw for tightening the fastener fastener means you cannot over tighten it or you will most likely break the fastener. This screw also binds a bit, perhaps because it only protects one side. My advice: squeeze the fastener as hard as you can and tighten the screw with your other hand. Dont pull!
