As someone who is hesitant to use industrial power tools, I was pleasantly surprised by the effectiveness of this heating tool. As a result of using it, I found that it was easy to operate and had a wide range of applications. It's a great addition to any industrial and scientific workplace. The only downside is that it gets quite hot and can be dangerous if not handled properly. Overall, a great tool for heating and shaping materials.
Pros
Durable and reliable construction.
Cons
May require a larger fuel source and be too powerful for some applications.
At low flow it will ignite in the handle so you need lots of gas flow or the handle will get hot and possibly explode. With sufficient gas flow, it works perfectly. However, more gas is required than you think. Start high, then lower and turn off when it whistles loudly and the flame is not visible.
Much better than what I got from Hobart, the flare that the nozzle attaches to is clean and straight. Not so with the other brand, the "head" was leaking and the hose was covered in soot. I'm surprised the flames didn't come back and grab me. This one fired right out of the box with no worries. I use it for annealing aluminum.
