Nice grommet.: Camera and photo

I needed a grommet for Buff Alien Bees flashes and didn't want to spend a lot of money. It's strong enough, was a great price and the gels were a bonus. Very happy with it.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Get super hot! in Lighting & Studio

The thing gets so hot you have to take gloves off. Also the light goes out wherever it sticks to my alien bees. Good for the price but overall not what I need. Too short need a longer extension. I had to add a paper tube at the end.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • I have no negative feelings about it, it's ok

Great accessory for Crappy Lights

Paul C Buff is one of the cheapest and crappy gadgets, so perfect for beginners (its founder was a xenophobic fanatic too, so do with it what you will). This snoot goes above and beyond with the terrible lights it's made for.

Pros
  • I keep my fists
Cons
  • So-so

Nothing special, it works. Others work better but cost a lot more. For the money they are great! Not big enough to deal with the heat of the modeling lamp. There definitely wouldn't be a modeling lamp if gels were used (I don't use the gels that come with them).

Pros
  • Availability
Cons
  • Very expensive

Is working. for lighting

Technically does what it's supposed to do but it won't attach to the base of my B800 Speedlight which unfortunately leaks light and throws a strange pattern in the background if not positioned correctly is. The color gels and the honeycomb nozzle are good and I wouldn't have expected more for the price. In time I will spend a little more money on a better muzzle.

Pros
  • Great choice
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Serves its purpose, but the building material is ok.

Reasonable price but the metal is fragile. I dropped it on the first day and a huge dent formed on the lip that connects to the beautiful face. Luckily it didn't affect him too drastically, but it's really tinny. It also heats up very quickly when the modeling light is on. It's okay, but maybe a different metal would distribute the heat better. But overall it does the job as advertised and at a reasonable price.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Exchange possible

Extremely loose fit on Paul C. Buff White Lightning x800

Just received the Fotodiox Snoot with Balcar/Buff (Alien Bee, White Lightning etc) and it fits my White Lightning 800. Positives: 1) Like my Fotodiox Snoot for the Bowens mount, it is metal and seems durable, 2) Comes with gels and mesh. Cons: 1) Massive, translucent slit mounted on the strobe. Almost useless without modification. I'll spend time figuring out how to add something to make it more appropriate, but I'm disappointed that it's so loose. I can still send it back because of a defect.

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • Expensive
