After using a different USB to RS-232 adapter and a .

After using another USB to RS-232 adapter and having many problems, I tried using this adapter to connect my BeagleBone Black (the header connects directly without modification) to connect to my iMac. It works great on both OSX and Ubuntu.

Pros

Right cable for Beaglebone Black

This is a cable for Beaglebone Black debug socket. Connects to the 6-pin debug connector (align the stamped arrow on the connector with pin 1 on the connector). Meets 3.3V Beaglebone Black specifications. My main workstation is Fedora 20 (3.13.6) and supports the USB end of this cable out of the box (no additional drivers needed). Required port settings: 115200 baud. ; bits 8; parity N; stop bits 1; No handshake I'm happy it works as it should!

Pros
  • Special offer
Cons
  • Some little things

Works great with chargers and power adapters

This cable adapter does exactly what it's supposed to do. there really isn't much to say. This is a cable adapter. You install a driver on your system and it does what it does.

Invaluable when working with a headless Pi!

I have ten Raspberry Pis in my house running 24/7, doing everything from an Apache web server to an NTP server with a cesium-based atomic clock. I have a few others that I use from time to time for special projects such as an IPv6 testbench or as a differential base for GPS and rover. Most of these Pis run headless, meaning they don't have a display, keyboard, or mouse. If they are on a home network I can use tools like ssh to log into them. But the ones I take into the field - and I mean…
