5 minutes install on my Gigabyte Z390m

Fantastic update for the Gigabyte Z390m gaming board. I got this primarily because I've had no luck with USB dongles for Bluetooth. I noticed a significant improvement in the smoothness and accuracy of my WMR BT controllers that used to shake and jump around on USB dongles. Something nice was much more reliable pairing and faster connection times when paired controllers were enabled. Make sure your chipset/mobile device/processor has and supports built-in Wi-Fi/Bluetooth. Other than that, I'm…

Great PC upgrade

My slim Dell Optiplex SFF didn't have wireless capability. When looking for a wireless card, I found that my PC uses an M2 card, so I bought a Gigabyte GC-CI22M wireless adapter. Cons first: There is no M2 set screw in the kit but there should be as it is required for installation. Second, the only expansion slot plate they give you is for a standard sized PC. That's too high for a thin PC. I cut out a large board that fits into the slot on the back of the computer case. These 2 negative points

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Installed in Dell Optiplex 7070 SFF

I installed the GIGABYTE GC-CI22M_A CNVi WiFi Upgrade Kit on a Dell Optiplex 7070 SFF computer that has an M.2 2230 keyed motherboard socket for Intel CNVi -Support features. This adds fast 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth to the 7070. It works great. I compared WiFi connected to a FritzBox 7490 router with built-in wired Ethernet to transfer a large file from a server to a local PC. Wi-Fi over 802.11ac is very fast, but still only half the speed of wired Ethernet: - WiFi 802.11ac 5 GHz: 58 Mb/s…

Added great WiFi to my new desktop

I recently built a new editing workstation based on the Intel Z390 chipset. My old WiFi PCI card barely supports 5GHz and I've heard good things about the new wireless CNVi chips combined with a 9th Gen Intel processor. I have to say I'm very pleased with how well this works. My connection to the router is stable and easily maintains the maximum speed of my internet service. In fact, I have to say that it's like a wired connection to my router that I do NOT have to worry about (drilling holes…

Pros
  • Well done
Cons
  • A few minor things

This is an Intel 9560 Wifi/Bluetooth chip "optimized" for CNVi M.2 slots with a Gigabit PCIe card and antenna. It's possible to buy the exact same chip without the antenna and riser for $15, but I felt the kit was worth the extra money considering all the Bluetooth dongles I've used are unreliable. If your motherboard says it has CNVi, this should work in it. I am using the MSI Z390 Pro. Installation took a while to set up out of the box. I had to dig into the advanced settings to accommodate…

Pros
  • Durable Test Results
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
