Never buy batteries again

The perfect radio for the apocalypse. But seriously, this is for a 9 year old who has a lot of toys with dead batteries. He's amazed you don't need internet to listen to music lol. I want one now, the hand crank.

Pros
  • Trapped no one else can find you. You can use our radio to sound an alarm to attract the attention of those around you. Especially in earthquakes and hurricanes.
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Also great for the beach

This is a very handy little radio. I bought it mainly for emergencies but found it also good for the beach etc. Love the fact that it is solar powered. We never get enough sun in Florida. I really got it for hurricane season, I was without it during hurricane Irma, luckily for me my strength didn't flag. It's also handy that you can charge your phone with it. You can also use batteries or a crank. But it is also charged by the sun. It has good sound and is about the size of a transistor radio…

Pros
  • Blackout? Unimportant. Our radios can be used as flashlights.
Cons
  • Expensive

Not a bad compact, but the poor AM selectivity bothers me a bit.

Poor AM selectivity, no 50kHz coverage on AM between 640-690kHz. I understand the lowest common denominator, but basic AM selectivity with DSP should no longer be an issue as it has been 16 years since DSP was introduced and more than enough time to correct most if not all of the shortcomings in DSP tuning systems remedy. If it had better weak signal selectivity, it would be a passable radio, although it's not particularly loud in stations for the 500mAh internal battery.

Pros
  • Radio not working? No problem. In the event of a power failure, charging can be carried out using solar power or a hand crank.
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
