Not burlap.

This item is made of synthetic material, not burlap. I did a burn test to make sure it wasn't burlap. I wanted to use them for my sustainable jewelry collection and if I didn't check it could backfire on my brand. I am very frustrated and will be going back to get from a sustainable source instead.

advertised as burlap but much better than the burlap bags you can buy elsewhere

These bags are very beautiful and well made. More like other cloth gift bags. Can safely be used for special occasions. Perhaps a bit more expensive per piece than you can buy from the U line, for example, jute, but buying in small batches makes them quite affordable.

They are versatile and look good too.

Excellent. I fill part with bay leaves, part with cedar balls, the next with mint. I put them in our RV. They smell nice to humans but are reportedly not pleasant to unwanted critters like mice. Just take a look. At the same time, it smells good when I open a drawer, wardrobe or closet. I can't stand the smell of mothballs! But the mothballs worked when my husband put them under the barn where the marmot family built a home. They don't like mothballs.
