Worked once.

At first the device seemed great. I owned a different brand TDS meter for about 10 years and it eventually died. I couldn't find the same one from Revain as before so I bought this one. It worked great the day I received it. I took it out after a month to test the waters and it was completely dead. I bought 3 new batteries and put them in and it's still completely dead. Big waste of money!

Pros
  • Industrial & Scientific
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks

Hazardous waste

Terrible. I bought some calibration fluid with this pen to make sure it's accurate. Although it was "factory calibrated for immediate use," it differed by 200 ppm from the calibration fluid. Whenever I tried to calibrate it, it always gave me an error message. According to the instructions, "Err" messages indicate internal damage or "the meter cannot calibrate" but do not provide advice on how to fix it. The $12 ppm tester I've used for years is more accurate than this $30 bunch of hot junk…

Pros
  • Laboratory and scientific products
Cons
  • Large and bulky

Great for aquarium testing

Does more than I need and what I need does it well. (I use it in EC mode to fertilize a PPS Pro aquarium.) Looks good. Not too big to have handy. Many settings would allow me to communicate with other people using TDS or other modes. My only caveat is that it takes some time (two or three minutes?) to set the final reading (they fluctuate quite a bit when adjusting the temperature). So I hold the meter in the water with one hand and my morning tea with the other, watching the fish happily check

Pros
  • Lab tools and equipment
Cons
  • Available in white only
