Stops working after 1 week! overheating!

Used this docking station for 1 week before it stopped working! I've found that I'm having trouble connecting monitors and flash drives through the docking station. Hot to touch! I suspect it has stopped working due to overheating. I sent it back to the seller saying it was a manufacturing defect. . They refunded my money.

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • Not the best

Flawed design doesn't support dual 4K displays

Before purchasing this generation of docking stations, note that dual 4K displays are not supported and that a previous version of the docking station had a defective power/USB cable C โ€ข HP only replaced cables when they failed. If a crash occurs, you will lose some or all functionality of the dock. HP should be ashamed of its spec sheet. Nothing is said about the bandwidth limit of the docking station.

Pros
  • Keeping my fists
Cons
  • Some cons

Terrible product and support

Terrible product and support. The ethernet port was not working upon arrival, HP support has been "working" on the issue for over 2 weeks. Completely incompetent support system designed to make me give up and stop calling. Now the device doesn't connect at all.

Pros
  • Great selection
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Good, but not HP Good - Laptop Accessories

Very delicate docking stations. I'm used to the HP 840 series retractable docking stations, so my expectations of this product were higher than they should have been. It works, sometimes! But Windows updates keep causing it not to work with the laptop and I have to revert my PC to a previous, less secure version of Windows until they fix the problem.

Cons

Avoid this document and the TeKswamp seller. Please.

The seller (TeKswamp) did not include the proprietary cable required to connect this docking station to an HP Zbook. Couldn't even use it. Only the power supply is included in the scope of delivery. It can't even handle USB peripherals or send signals to regular USB-C or Thunderbolt displays. You MUST have a combo cable. It was essentially a $200 laptop charger (including a grossly inflated $27 shipping fee). Contacted the seller and he sent me another power supply. Still not the cable Iโ€ฆ

All peripherals and power in one connection = bliss

Works as advertised! I bought it because I got it for my office work station and saw how useful it is. I wanted another one for my home office so I could connect everything to it instead of my laptop. That way I only have to unplug one cable when I get home or leave. And when I get to work, I just plug in one cord. It is great. At work I have 3 monitors connected to it, two with 1080p and one with 1050 x 1680. Two via DisplayPort and one via VGA. I also connected a wireless mouse and keyboardโ€ฆ
