I was looking for an inexpensive accessory kit to help set up and maintain the player and cassette. The Hudson package has everything I need for this and is very easy to use. Such kits should be sold with all players. I suspect the pros can do better, but I'm quite happy with the results. The company also emailed to see if everything was ok and let them know of any questions or concerns. I'll probably buy a few extra sets for Christmas gifts.

This VTA/Azimuth Unit works well for the most part. In my experience, aligning the stylus tip in azimuth makes more sense than using it as a VTA tool. You'll need some sort of magnifying glass to get the job done properly, so this item isn't very useful on its own. Not much to say about the clear plastic block with lines on it other than it looks pretty well made and it even comes in a nice storage case in its original shape. VTA tuning is best done by ear, but the Hudson alignment block allows you to quickly set the arm or carriage base parallel to the record as a starting point. Before purchasing this protractor kit, like everyone else, I adjusted the arm height of the platter by observing it from the side and using my best judgment as to where true horizontal is. The acrylic protractor eliminated the uncertainty at this stage as it is now clear where the plane is using the block as a reference.
