Worth every penny. I just hiked through the biggest mud puddles in the field next to the creek near my house in the rain - didn't slip or slip in the red clay. or mud, they're comfortable, well-tailored (they're real, of course, because they're real rubber boots) and you didn't even have to walk carefully. I ditched the cheap decorative "wellies" I had and opted for the Real Deal boots. Now I understand everything. I'll look for some more dirt.

I'm 5ft 8" and they sit just below the squat. I weigh 130 kilos and there is enough room in the calf area for skinny jeans with socks or leggings with socks.
