Works great (although Apple makes it hard)

I installed one of these in an early 2015 MacBook Air last night. The tricky part is the initial formatting of the hard drive so the operating system can be installed. There are two ways to do this after replacing the hard drive: 1) This is the "network" method, which loads the utility used to perform the initial setup. Disk Utility failed to recognize the drive twice. Method 2 is to download the entire operating system (6+ GB for Mojave) and create a bootable USB drive. When I used thisโ€ฆ

Works fine, had to create Catalina bootdisk/install USB

I couldn't see the 512GB INDMEM block in a 2013 Macbook Air. Even after upgrading the Macbook to Catalina on a 128GB SSD and replacing INDMEM with a 512GB Macbook, it behaved like nothing was installed. I was ready to return the device. Based on some other reviews I googled and created a bootable Catalina install on a USB stick. 512GB INDMEM installed, booted from USB and here it is, 512GB INDMEM waiting to be formatted. An added bonus was formatting to APFS instead of Mac OS Extended sinceโ€ฆ

Works great in an Early 2015 MacBook Air

I used this drive to replace the standard 128GB drive in my standard MacBook Air (Early 2015) because I was tired of deciding which files should be deleted so I could update it. At first I didn't think it would work because I couldn't initialize the drive when I put it in the external enclosure. However, I contacted the seller to see if they have any support information. The replies from them were generally quick and they walked me through the steps to initialize a new drive at this pointโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Poor set

Buy an OWC SSD instead

Installing this SSD was difficult and it was frustrating that the instructions were so unclear. The first 6 pages explained common mistakes, but the instructions weren't detailed enough to go through the entire process. The video option didn't help much as it was very fast and had few voice instructions. In my case I called Revain and got no help, was asked to message the seller and wait up to 2 days for a response. I then called Apple and they helped a few and then referred me to a localโ€ฆ
