Like many people who store gas, I've used these cheap plastic containers for years and have never felt safe doing it. You may have heard stories about how they can supposedly shatter or even explode. And plastic IS porous, so it can evaporate into the atmosphere over time. I just didn't feel comfortable storing them in the attached garage knowing that once the plastic container melted they would actually start a fire. They are and difficult to use without spilling.
