They are hard, hard and uncomfortable to use in the ear, in the nose or around the eyes. The part of the wand is reinforced because it's made out of wood (the original reason for buying it) but the cotton at the end is so hard and scratchy you definitely don't want to use it for typical beauty/health needs. All in all I won't be going back because I might find something they are perfect for.
