Description of πŸ”Œ Kensington SD1600P USB-C Dock for Surface Pro and Surface Go - 4K with USB-C Charging and Pass-Through (K33968WW)

USB C single display mini dock for Surface Pro 7; Surface Go 1 & 2; Surface Laptop 3; Surface Books 1/2/3; Windows 7/10; Mac OS 10.14 and later. Uses a laptop's USB-C power Cord to pass through power back to the laptop and all the peripherals (power pass through not compatible with Macbook Pro 16" 2020); you can also power the dock and connected devices using the laptop's Battery when traveling. Versatile video connections offer output options for HDMI (4K@30Hz) or VGA full HD (1920x1080p) to an external monitor, TV or projector. 3 USB ports - extend productivity capabilities via 2 USB 3. 0 Ports (up to 5Gbps), and an extra USB-C port for data synchronization (up to 5Gbps). Built-in charging hub allows the dock to charge mobile accessories (up to 2. 4a) when not being used as a dock β€” eliminating the need to travel with additional power adapters.

NO PASS THRU POWER Compatible with docking stations

Advertised as Pass Thur Charging and Power. This will NOT work on our Dell XPS13 2-in-1! I unplugged the charging cable from the laptop, plugged it into the docking station, then plugged the docking cable into the laptop, NO POWER to the laptop! I got HDMI video, USB keyboard and mouse so I gave 2 stars instead of 1.

Pros
  • Mini Single Display USB C Dock for Surface Pro 7; surface transition 1 and 2; Surface Laptop 3; surface books 1/2/3; Windows 7/10; Mac OS 10.14 and later
Cons
  • Some minor things

Very Disappointed: Notebook Accessories

Didn't work at all with Samsung 9+ - no sound from HDMI port, video cuts out. Likewise for some window machines. Worked well with a Macbook, but for the price it should be a lot better. Use a much cheaper adapter, I have several that work much better. Extremely disappointed with Kensington build and compatibility.

Pros
  • Universal video connectors provide HDMI (4K@30Hz) or VGA Full HD (1920 x 1080p) output options for an external monitor, TV or projector.
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other models

Works well on docking stations

I'm using this on my Dell XPS 13 with a 34" Samsung curved display as well as a 36" Dell display and it seems to work pretty well. I get a warning that the power supply isn't ideal for this, but I haven't had any issues or dead batteries like the previous dock I tried. It's very portable, and when we can travel again, I plan to take it with us on business trips.

Pros
  • Uses the laptop's USB-C power cord to power the laptop and all peripherals (pass-through not compatible with Macbook Pro 16" 2020); You can power the docking station and connected devices with your laptop battery while you're on the go.
Cons
  • Skimpy Instructions

No power loss

The device itself is very light, it can be called cheap but ok for travel essentials. I connected it to my USB-C powered compatible laptop and although it worked as a USB mouse and keyboard hub, it lost no power. I contacted online tech support, they told me to make sure the cables are secure, which I did. Still does not work. You can get a great hub for $30, but for $80 I expected it to work as advertised. Went back very disappointed.

Pros
  • 3 USB ports - Expand your productivity with 2 USB 3.0 ports (up to 5 Gb/s) and an additional USB-C port for data synchronization (up to 5 Gb/s).
Cons
  • Difficult to say

Not a real doc! More like an expensive hub

Not a real dock! When I bought it, I was expecting a true docking station that would be self-powered, have all the peripherals built in, and use a cable to connect to a laptop. This is a glorified cable knot, not a real dock. I still have to run a separate cable to power my laptop as it is a non-powered device. Other than that, it's a decent hub that gets the job done. It's very light, but I think that makes it a bit cheap. Although this is just a joke. Ultimately, it functions as a place to…

Pros
  • The built-in charging hub allows the docking station to charge mobile accessories (up to 2.4A) when not in use as a docking station, eliminating the need to travel with extra power adapters.
Cons
  • Repair
