Vacuum insulated for good heat retention. The lid is the largest and largest source of heat loss. The lid has an access valve that flips back for drinking, when locked in the open position the valve is a bit difficult to unlock and close. Does not lock in closed position. The drinking spout fits snugly in my mouth so my lips aren't exposed to the hot coffee. I like it, especially for home use.

Pros: Case looks well insulated and keeps heat out. In general, it looks very good, and in fact there are comments from colleagues about it. Keeps cold drinks very cold. Good liquid seal when closed and easy to shake drinks. Cons: The lid lets heat through and hot drinks stay warm for a long time, but if you want to keep your drink *hot*, this mug doesn't fit in that space. The lip of the mug is sharp and I don't like drinking from it without the lid. Overall: A very good mug, just don't expect
