I have docks in both of my offices so I can use the same computer at home and on the go. I use this to upload a remote hard drive, DVDs and photos from SD cards.

A must have when buying a new MacBook or MacBook Air

This is a great little product and great functionality for the price. Whether you want to connect to your TV with an HDMI cable, download photos from your camera's drive, or connect it all to your TV with a USB cable, this has you covered. It's compact and lightweight, but doesn't feel cheap. It fits easily in my carry-on bag. This is the most valuable electronic product I have bought in a long time.

Used on a Mac Pro laptop that only has 2 USB ports (the newer ones are smaller) so it does the job well and gives access to old and bigger USB sockets . as well as SD cards.

Inconvenient cable: computers and accessories

The product arrived quickly and fits well. What I can't understand is the annoyingly stiff cable. It looks much more flexible on the product photos. I suppose it would be awkward on a plane or anywhere with a small table. I'm afraid I'll end up exhausting it if I try to keep it close to my computer all the time.

Problem with more than one connection at a time

I bought this to use with a MacBook. The first thing I noticed was that the USB mouse I had worked, but the card readers didn't. I then unplugged the mouse and reinserted the SD card and voila, the card was read. I'm not sure if this is an issue with my mouse or this article, but it seems that two things (like a USB mouse and an SD photo card) can't be used at the same time. But in the end I just bought a magic mouse to get around this problem.
