I bought this for my guinea pigs. They love to pull hay out of it. I was hanging on the bars of the cage but they pulled her out and she almost fell on one of them. Now I'm standing up and they just pull to get hay from all sides. It's more stable now that it's pressed against the bedding. Since the hay is packed quite tightly inside, they work for the hay! I make sure her little feet don't get caught. If they get a big cage I'll buy two!

Can't decide between three or four stars on this product. It works to hold hay for my guinea pigs but only if it's just a wheel placed on the cage floor. They couldn't get enough hay when it was against the cage wall. A warning: be careful when placing it in a cage on a wire stand. My smallest pig pushed him and managed to get his head caught between the wheel and stand. He wasn't hurt, but it scared him and me.

I chose this hay wheel because it looked like a sturdy feeder that would last for years. I would give 5 stars for the quality. However, in terms of functionality, it is 3. The bands are very close to each other. Personally, I believe this can potentially cause problems with my guinea pigs' jaws and teeth. My fix for this is that I cut every third stick and file the edges. This allowed my piglets better access to their hay but still kept it off the bottom of the cage thus keeping it clean. It…
