I first tried a third party option to mount the Lum Cube to the camera. It seems to have worked. He wasn't dense and wasn't very flexible. Eventually I got fed up and bought the official ball head and couldn't be happier. It stays where I set it up and easily attaches to camera, light stand or tripod. Considering it's cheap, I can't recommend anything else to anyone.

I used it as an easy way to elevate my Lume Cube so the camera lens doesn't cast shadows on images. It does the job and more, but I didn't get a 3/8-16 to 1/4-20 adapter for the headboard because the hot shoe adapter already has a 1/4 threaded hole (I could use that the other place). Also, the 3/8 thread adapter doesn't work with my spiked posts without additional adapters.

Nicely made but does not fit the hot shoe of my Fujifilm X-series camera. They are exactly the same width and length as my two flashes, but should be a bit thicker. My flash legs are made from high density polypropylene(?) so they can better tolerate a tight fit and glide with less resistance. bottom line; I squeezed, squeezed and wiggled this device but gave up for fear of damaging the camera. Returned.
