My wife, who doesn't usually try the "trick," took her to Michigan for a weekend party (we live in Southwest Florida) and said, that they are the best. She clambered up and down icy riverbanks, navigating the frozen Detroit River to the island with ease, plus ice on the sidewalks and driveways. She's 73 and other party-goers in their 30s and 50s are planning to order themselves after seeing how well she performs.

Really wanted to love them - they seem like a great solution for slippery winter weather. But I put them on my boots and they broke after about a week. The rubber is just torn and torn. My shoes are a size 10.5 which is at the top of plus size so maybe they were too stretchy but I'm not sure if size XL would be snug enough.
