This lotion does not gradually brown at all. It's just a firming lotion with a pleasant smell. Neither my clothes, nor my towels, nor even my hands were ever stained with any shade. I never had to wash my hands because of the discoloration. Other gradual tan products I've had have been off-white, this lotion is pure white. I am not at all satisfied with this product. For the price, this lotion does everything expensive lotions do and more. The tan is gradual and very natural while the skin is hydrated.
