Traditional Japanese. Much better quality than I expected to be honest. I don't like the velcro or sewn-in tie on the front, but I think they make the look easier if you use them as intended.

NOT REAL OBI! I won't lie, this upset me because I was expecting a traditional obi but got exactly the opposite. Why, tell me, why would anyone use velcro on an item like this like a real one? Defeat the Obi's entire objective!

My god, Sensei and I were thrilled when we opened the package and found a pre-tied (like a sewn knot) velcro belt. Did I just miss it in the description? I still can't find it. Anyway, it's one of the cheapest options I can find and suits my purposes for now. It has a nice pattern, the right stiffness and is holding up very well. The material and the width of the belt are perfect. It arrived with Velcro sewn in strategic places and with a pre-rolled knot like a tie, which I didn't like. The pre-fold looked too artificial for my liking so I removed the pre-fold threads and everything works fine. The extra velcro straps fuse together so I didn't bother removing them but I might remove them later.

Not what I was hoping for. In my opinion, I just wanted an obi that wasn't pre-tied. I don't need a [Premade Ceremonial Bundle.
