Very thin plastic. But it's also very subtle what these cases can hold. This is NOT what used to come with memory cards. Not only is the plastic thinner and the hinges weaker, the entire compartment isn't as thick either. You can't carry a microflash with you like the old memory card holder. Some old memory cards won't even fit in. If you try this, the case will either not be closed or will be opened at the slightest provocation. Very bad product. I don't know why so many SD card manufacturers sell their cards WITHOUT a case but I have noticed that some of my recent purchases have arrived without them. I think it's very cheap of them to charge $50-60 for a tiny chip but not include a package that only costs them a penny.
