not worth the price and a bit boring

thought I would buy a box of 100 instead of 10 - it's my fault but I would never knowingly pay that much for 10 razors. Much more expensive than some competitors like the Astra Superior which is around $25 for 300 razors and has served me very well for many years. If needed, each Astra lasts a full week (I used it probably 10-12 times before throwing it away). These mercury actually feel a bit dull on the first shave and I'm not sure they will last more than two or three uses.

Better than regular blades but just doesn't cut

I've been shaving with a safety razor since my dad taught me to shave. I was using his replacement Gillette safety razor which he bought in 1962 and gave to me in 1980 when I first found out about it. I have read a lot and tried many different brands and I keep coming back to German Wilkinson Double Edge blades. These Merkurs shaved me, but they were noticeably not as sharp as the Wilkinson blades I've used for over 30 years. My razor is adjustable, and no matter what setting I tried, the…

Pros
  • It's amazing

The worst blades are no longer made in Germany.

I'll get straight to the point. The worst blades ever made, stay away at all costs. They used to be made in Germany. It looks like Germany outsourced them to another country, very sad. There used to be pride, honor and respect in Germany. I don't think they do it anymore since then. Germany and a German company shamed the German people for a shoddy product and outsourcing what a shame and shame on you Germany :(

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • For pensioners

Big Divorce! 10 blades, not 100 blades!

I feel cheated. Look at the first picture I attached, it's the same when you go to the order page. It clearly says "100 Mercury" 10x10 pieces/pc. It was the box I expected (100 blades). I received a box of 10! I have attached the 2nd picture. So I went back and read the reviews, a lot of people were saying the same thing. Very misleading and the 100 blade image should be removed to avoid attracting buyers. I am writing this negative review and then returning the product because I feel it is…

Very aggressive on thin beards

I've recently gotten very frustrated with all the multi-blade plastic razors and decided to go back to the old dual-blade safety razor that I've been using for years. I got a nice new one and went for some premium blades to give him a better workout. It was a disaster. I have very fine hair and a nice, soft, thick beard that I trim weekly. Those Mercur blades are too aggressive. I have cut myself several times (which I have never done before) leaving very severe lacerations on my cheeks and…

Shaving is painless again!

Bravo Mercury! I have used other types of razor blades from different manufacturers and ALWAYS use Merkur. They are better. They stay sharp and I never feel like my hair is "pulled" out of my face. I can count on Merkur consistency with excellent quality and attention to detail. Just so you know what those blades are up to, my facial hair is very coarse. I don't have much (not enough to grow a beard or a cool mustache), but what grows back is better than a razor. Shaving with Merkur is…

Pros
  • Robust construction

  • Some bugs

Shave & Hair Remover Lure

These are not the blades that I have been buying from Merkur for years. The new ones are a big step up from the originals. They now say they are made in the Czech Republic, I didn't think anything of it at first. But after a few shaves, I realized how awful they are. They are not sharp, dull quickly enough that no more than one blade is used more than once, and no longer include a disposal container. My face is so irritated I'm embarrassed. You're better off with cartridge razors than these…
