Not waterproof! Shoes

Love love these hiking shoes but bought them specifically for the Gortex waterproofing. I have found that my feet get wet in the mornings when I walk on wet grass! Not cool. Everything was fine at first, and after a few months my feet got wet. The description specifically says "WATER RESISTANT" in the "Features" section, not "Waterproof", which I don't think is the same as waterproof.

Pros
  • Faux Leather, Mesh
Cons
  • No Uniform Required

Not waterproof by any means

I bought these shoes for a trip to Iceland but after a few hours of wearing them I stepped in a puddle and water seeped into my toe. Having shoes that weren't waterproof (even though I paid for Gore-Tex) ruined the hike for the rest of the trip. After contacting Merrell, they offered me a replacement instead of the requested refund. I wouldn't trust Merrell's quality if I could kick a water-soaked, partially frozen boot while wearing an icy, soaked sock.

Pros
  • Merrell air cushion in the heel absorbs shock and increases stability
Cons
  • Protection

Comfortable hiking shoes

I love Merrell shoes and their women's Moab 2 GTX hiking shoes were perfect from the start, offering quality in every way: comfort, fit, style and the hike itself! While walking, I stepped into a huge puddle and submerged my foot almost completely, though not completely. My husband warned me because I didn't feel anything. Coming out of the puddle my foot stayed dry thanks to Gortex, GTX in the shoe. They may be more expensive but they fit me perfectly - I tried many sneakers before I foundโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Vibram sole
Cons
  • High price

and i would say they are a bit more comfortable but competitive

all my sneakers wear out fast lately so i gave up and tried something else and this is a good alternative. My walking shoes are Keen Targhees and I would say they are a little more comfortable but competitive. Plus, they look good enough to wear to work; It's hard to find plain black women's shoes. They make a slapping sound that I haven't figured out yet, but there's nothing loose in the boot and they don't smack my feet, so I'm hoping it goes away once they're broken in.

Pros
  • synthetic leather and mesh upper
Cons
  • very expensive

I love my Merrells - Women's

I usually wear 8s or 8.5s. I bought them for 8.5 and they are ok. Now they fit well but have enough room for heavy hiking socks. I also have this style in boots and love them. Great hold, great grip, great comfort. I have a sore knee so I know right away if I need cushioning. I wanted a low cut for summer and got a hell of a deal on the GTX style. My hikes tend to be infrequent, maybe 5-6 miles at a time, with regular 2-3 mile walks on our local green trails, so I need good support andโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Merrell M Select FIT.ECO+ blended EVA footbed with extra zone arch and heel support
Cons
  • is embarrassing
