NO ORINGS!: Motorcycle & Powersports

I wish I had oil filters on hand instead of buying them at the last minute. When I went to change my Vstar oil today, I took this new K&N oil filter out of the TAPED box and it didn't have the three required o-rings. I had to reuse all the old o-rings. I go back to the WIX filters. Unbelievable!

Pros
  • Consistent Test Results
Cons
  • Defects

It's an oil filter.

Tip: Take a .250" thick N45+ .3125" diameter cylindrical neodymium magnet and place it directly into the metal lip on the inside of the filter. At the next oil change, the magnet should be covered in slippery black mud from engine wear. Nice addition to the magnetic drain plug.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Large and bulky

Nice filter better with seals

Bought for an oil change on my 2006 Yamaha 1100 V Star Silverado Classic. This filter fits as intended and does the job. I give it four stars because it doesn't come with three seals that need to be replaced every 8000 miles. If they started including it, even if it cost a few extra bucks, I would give it 5 stars. Chasing those pads or having to pay the price of a highway robbery at a Yamaha dealership is a headache. FYI, this filter will only work if you do NOT have an oil change kit installed

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Fits XVS1100 2005 Motorbike & Motorbike

It's hard to know how effective an oil filter is unless you have some serious industrial gear. My grandfather taught me to open up oil filters and run them through a solvent bath to look for "shavings" that indicated piston heads were seizing on the cylinders. Well, I don't have that exact setup, and I haven't ridden enough miles with this particular filter to tell you if it's doing the job right. but I can say that it installed without any problems and there are no leaks. I always use K&N for…

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Slightly Torn
