I was very impressed with the quality of this coat. I live in a cold area with lots of snow so I wanted a good winter coat for my son. I liked that it didn't have a separate layer with thumb holes like some coats as my son's last coat had that part ripped out which annoyed him. I ordered size 7-8 for my 8 year old son. He is of average build and a bit thin. Not much extra bulk. This jacket was too small for him and I noticed that as soon as I took it out of the packaging. The sleeves are too short and he could not wear a thick shirt underneath because it is even tight on his body. I came back and ordered size 9-10. The sleeves are a bit long but I can adjust the velcro around the wrists so she doesn't keep touching it with her hands. I'd rather be a little bigger than

Having had some snow and temps in the 20's I can now say this coat is quite warm and kept my 3 year old from drying out whilst playing in the snow and sledding. I feel really warm in my coat when I take it off. I also really like the velcro straps on his wrists to keep his mittens in place and prevent snow from getting in. The neck is quite high which can be annoying for a small child but I understand there may be a time when it is necessary. I'm only shooting one star because the flash on ours
